IP & Licensing Consultant – 12 month FTC
At Widgit Software, we are committed to creating innovative solutions that empower individuals with communication difficulties. As an IP and Licensing Consultant, you will have the opportunity to shape during your 12 month term the future of Widgit Symbols and contribute to our mission of making communication accessible to all.
As Widgit’s IP and Licensing Consultant, your primary responsibility will be to strategically manage and optimise the intellectual property assets, particularly focusing on Widgit Symbols, within Widgit Software's portfolio. Your role will encompass a crucial responsibility to safeguard and protect Widgit’s IP assets. Working closely with legal counsel and internal stakeholders you will develop and enforce IP protection measures including patents, trademarks and copyrights.
Looking to the future you will leverage your expertise in intellectual property law, strategic thinking, and effective communication, and by collaboration with the Chief Growth Officer and internal stakeholders develop and implement robust IP and licensing strategies. Your role is pivotal in identifying, evaluating, and maximising future licensing opportunities for Widgit Symbols, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and fostering partnerships that enhance the value and accessibility of this renowned symbol set across various sectors.

You’ll ideally have….
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Intellectual Property, Business, or a related field.
- Proven experience in intellectual property law, licensing, and preferably in the software or technology sector.
- Strong understanding of intellectual property rights, licensing models, and commercialisation strategies.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 applications.
- Ability to write summaries and documentation accurately and concisely.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to translate complex legal and technical concepts into actionable insights.
- Strategic thinker with a track record of driving results and delivering value through IP and licensing initiatives.
- Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.

Digital Marketing Executive
We are currently in search of a highly skilled and motivated Digital Marketing Executive to join our team at Widgit. As our products evolve, your role will be crucial in driving our ongoing growth. You will work alongside the Head of Product Marketing, and be responsible for creating and executing effective digital campaigns that will increase our brand's visibility and engage our customers.
To be successful in this role, we are looking for a results-driven individual who can develop, implement, track, and optimise our digital marketing campaigns across various channels. You will need to stay up-to-date with sector trends and competitor activities, and work collaboratively with all areas of the business to translate business objectives into successful digital marketing initiatives.
This role requires a strong understanding of website management, and digital marketing tactics, excellent communication skills, and adeptness in creative content creation.
You’ll ideally have….
- Proven experience in developing and executing successful digital marketing campaigns.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in marketing or a related field.
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript development and constraints.
- Experience in optimising landing pages and user funnels.
- Strong knowledge of digital marketing tools and platforms, including Google Analytics, Google AdWords, and social media advertising platforms.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Up-to-date with the latest digital marketing trends and best practices.

Product Designer
We are looking for a Product Designer, you will be responsible for taking our Product Design capability to the next level.
You will work closely with the Product Manager and other colleagues to better understand customers, solve problems, find new opportunities and create human-centred designs that delight users. You will lead the product design lifecycle across our portfolio of products (both existing and new): conducting user research; mapping customer journeys; designing user flows; prototyping potential solutions; testing; implementing final designs; measuring success and iterating. You will also support the experience delivered via our websites to ensure a coherent journey throughout the customer lifecycle. Collaborating across functions, you will engage with development, symbol design, education, product marketing, compliance and other stakeholders.
You will design for accessibility and inclusion, taking into account the needs of adults, children, people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), and users from different cultures and countries. You will advocate for and embed best practices, implementing relevant tools and processes as appropriate.
You’ll ideally have…
- Competency in visual design, UX and UI design, particularly in software and digital technologies.
- Well versed in design for accessibility and inclusion.
- Sound knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative user research methodologies.
- Proficient in relevant wireframing, user mapping and design technologies (for example, Adobe XD, Figma, Balsalmiq, LucidChart, Overflow or others).
- Good understanding of Software as a Service (SaaS), and both desktop and online environments.
- Basic grasp of relevant code and the frameworks utilised by software developers so as to collaborate effectively (for example, CSS, JavaScript and so on).
- Familiarity with design systems, style guides and the principles of branding.
- Familiarity with the education and SEND market preferred but not essential.
